Motorcycle lifts - workshop technology for two-wheelers

It promises a unique riding experience, pure adrenaline rush, rapid locomotion and many other advantages - as a compact vehicle, the motorcycle is popular not only because of its advantages in road traffic. Even before they come of age, young people from the age of 16 can ride a scooter - the smaller version of a motorcycle. Two-wheelers are a much-used vehicle and are also covered by garages. Whether you are a professional business or a passionate hobby mechanic: in any case, professional workshop equipment including a motorcycle lift is always part of the package. We will explain to you what options you have and what you should look out for when buying such a platform.

Motorcycle lifts are particularly suitable for work that takes place just above the ground and is difficult to access without further assistance. They relieve the body by providing an ergonomic position for back and joints. Once the motorcycle has been positioned and secured at the desired height, nothing stands in the way of repairs and maintenance work such as changing oil and tyres or replacing brake discs. With the help of an additional ramp, every two-wheeler can be rolled up and off the platform very easily.

Types of motorcycle lifts

Roughly divided, there are two types of motorcycle lifts: the classic motorcycle lift and the simple motorcycle jack or scissor jack. While the classic motorcycle lift covers all types of two-wheeled vehicles, the motorcycle jack is more suitable for small two-wheeled vehicles and for the most flexible use. And these are the main differences:

The motorcycle lift...

  • has a large contact surface,
  • allows considerably more flexibility in terms of working height due to its height adjustability,
  • allows an ergonomic posture during the work,
  • offers additional storage possibilities for the tool and
  • is considerably more expensive than a motorcycle jack due to its many features and advantages.

The motorcycle jack...

  • is mounted in the middle under the motorcycle,
  • consists of a very compact design,
  • represents an interesting alternative as an alternative model for several motorcycles at the same time in a workshop,
  • is particularly suitable for light machines,
  • can be transported very well and
  • represents a much cheaper alternative to the motorcycle lift.

Disadvantages of the motorcycle lift, on the other hand, are its lower stability and the lower working height which is made possible by it.

Choosing the right motorcycle lift

The choice of the right motorcycle platform depends especially on the work you want to do on the motorcycle. However, the motorcycle itself must also be taken into account with its dimensions and weight. For hobbyists, a motorcycle jack is the much more attractive option, especially due to the difference in price. However, if you often sit on your two-wheeler in your hobby workshop or perhaps even repair several motorcycles, you might again think about the more ergonomic two-wheeler lift with more features.

A workshop, on the other hand, should tend towards the motorcycle platform for long and precise work. If you would like to have several platforms in your workshop, a mixture of both types could be the right choice, as the mobile motorcycle jacks can be easily stored and moved when not in use.

In the RP-TOOLS online shop you will find a versatile selection of motorcycle lifts for every application. We would like to introduce you to the main features of our lifts:

Electro-hydraulic and air-hydraulic scissor lifts

These two models are very robust and particularly safe multi-talents. The lifting height is usually 1200 mm and the maximum load capacity is 70 kg. If you are interested in also lifting tricycles and small cars on these lifts, then this can be done with the help of an upgrade.

Full steel ramp

This hydraulic ramp can be moved through the workshop by means of two steering rollers and two block rollers. Furthermore the lifting and lowering is made possible by a foot lever.
