Safety helmets: the most important part of the body is the headThe head is the most important part of the body. You can walk around the area like a headless chicken, but only in a idiomatic sense. Otherwise, the head is an indispensable part of the body. That is why it is absolutely important to protect your head from danger. This does not only apply in martial arts or motorcycling, but especially during all work in which the head could be in danger, such as on a construction site by falling parts. Due to constant risk of falling parts or other mechanical impacts from objects, always wear a safety helmet.
In the field of construction, a so-called construction helmet, also called industrial helmet, is the right choice. It is designed to protect against external forces caused by mechanical impact and should comply with the standard DIN EN 397. This standard includes a vertical shock absorption effect of the helmet as well as the defense and resistance to sharp and pointed objects. In addition, such a safety helmet must be flame-resistant and include a mechanism on the attachment to the chin, which releases the attachment at a minimum of 150 N and a maximum of 250 N. Some industrial helmets also provide electrical insulation and are both heat and cold resistant. However, these properties are not compulsory in the standard EN 397 and are unnecessary in many activities.
A safety helmet is also very important in other areas, such as welding, when welding spatters occur. Then welding protection must be worn.
Safety helmets should always sit comfortably and cause no pressure points.
In addition to pure helmets, there are also combinations of safety helmet and hearing protection. We offer a helmet that features both adjustable earmuffs and a visor for facial protection. Such a helmet is needed wherever not only the head needs to be protected, but where there is a high level of noise, as well as a danger to the face due to splinters, particles, organisms or other effects on the face. At the same time, the visor also reduces the incidence of light. This is necessary, for example, in forestry work and forestry, which is why this helmet combination is also referred to as a forestry helmet or forestry safety helmet. The use of power saws in forestry technology often leads to considerable noise development here; flying wood splinters and branches that can hit the face make a visor indispensable, as does the safety helmet.
